Akari seeks stronger start, RK Hoops-QC aims to build on breakthrough in WMPBL

Head coach Derrick Pumaren stressed the importance of consistency and cleaner execution as the Sparks try to stay grounded despite their strong opening performance.

“We had a good start, definitely, but there’s still a long way for us. We need to improve ‘yung execution namin offensively. Minsan, we’re running away from what we’re doing. We just have to keep executing the right way,” said Pumaren.

Akari will once again rely on the steady core of Allana Lim, Raiza Palmera-Dy, and Mar Prado as it seeks to extend its winning streak in the tournament, backed by Aktive, and maintain its early momentum.

Caloocan, meanwhile, will be desperate to snap a two-game skid, banking on the leadership of Janine Pontejos, Rejoice Adlawan, and Dianne Pedregosa as they try to turn their early struggles around.

In the second game, 10ACT RK Hoops-Quezon City carries renewed confidence after finally snapping a 10-game losing streak dating back to the previous season. The breakthrough win has given the squad a much-needed boost as it looks to string together consecutive victories.

With Tantoy Ferrer providing leadership, 10ACT RK Hoops is hoping to stabilize its rotation and build on its recent progress against a tough Pasig side that is also seeking a bounce-back win after a disappointing start.

Pasig, led by Hazelle Yam and Lee Sario, continues to lean on its core as it searches for early consistency and a stronger showing in the tournament.

Gabi Bade will be out for the Queenpins as she is part of Gilas 3×3 in the 2026 Asian Beach Games.
